Best OS X Open Source and Shareware Software

On the occasion of upgrading a laptop and desktop to OS X Tiger, I thought it would be a good idea to create a list of some of the best open source and shareware software. The list is mainly open source but also includes shareware less than $100 in price. If the software costs more than $100 it really no longer fits into the low cost spirit of shareware. The software is free (as in price) unless noted with a ($$).
